Kaffe · a free, private bookshelf
Move your Goodreads library to a private shelf
If you've tracked years of reading on Goodreads, you don't have to start over. Kaffe can import your Goodreads export and give you a private shelf you share only with people you choose.
Step 1: On Goodreads (easiest on a computer), open My Books, then Import and export, and choose Export Library. You'll get a .csv file. Step 2: Make a Kaffe account with a name and a password. No email needed. Step 3: Open Import in Kaffe and choose the file. Kaffe recognises Goodreads and StoryGraph exports directly. For other reading-list CSVs, you can tell it which columns hold the title, author and rating. Kaffe doesn't keep the raw CSV.
You can also paste a list of finished books, one per line.
After the import, your shelf is private. Send your invite link to friends or family, and choose whether to share your full shelf with a circle. Kaffe then shows you the books they loved that you haven't read, and you can compare shelves with one friend. Kaffe is free and has no ads, and you can export your shelf again later.
Start your own reading circle: free, with just a name and a password. No email, no ads.
Questions
Which exports can Kaffe import?
Goodreads and StoryGraph CSV exports, plus other reading-list CSVs where you choose the columns.
Does Kaffe store my CSV file?
No. The raw CSV isn't saved. Only the books you add to your shelf are stored.
Will my ratings come across?
Kaffe reads ratings from the export when they're present.
Is my imported shelf public?
No. It's private until you invite someone, and your full shelf is only visible to circles you share it with.
