Kaffe · a free, private bookshelf
A digital bookshelf you share with friends
Kaffe is a free web app for keeping a shelf of the books and audiobooks you've finished and sharing it with a few friends. It isn't a social network. There is no public profile, no follower count and no feed of strangers.
You sign up with just a name and a password. Then you add books by searching for a title, pasting a list, or importing a Goodreads or StoryGraph export. Star ratings are optional.
To share, you make a small circle and send its link to the friends you want in it. You choose which circles can see a read-only copy of your shelf, and you can take that access away again at any time. Friends in your reading circle see your to-read list and top picks, so recommendations can flow both ways. Kaffe never lets people search for you, so the only way in is a link you sent.
The useful part comes next. Kaffe shows you the books your friends rated highly that you haven't read, and you can compare your shelf with one friend to see your overlap and what to borrow from each other. Each book page can carry a short note from you (up to 280 characters) that your friends see. It works in any browser on phone or desktop, it's free, and it has no ads.
Start your own reading circle: free, with just a name and a password. No email, no ads.
