Kaffe · a free, private bookshelf

A simple, private family reading tracker

Kaffe is a free way for a family to keep track of what everyone has read and listened to, and to pass good books along.

Each family member gets their own shelf of finished books and audiobooks. Accounts need only a name and a password, with no email address, phone number or real name. You create a family circle and send its link to the people you want in it. Members see each other's to-read lists and top picks, and each person decides whether their full shelf is shared with the circle, and can stop sharing at any time.

From there, Kaffe shows each person the books others in the family rated highly that they haven't read. The reading circle page also lists books that are on more than one person's to-read or currently-reading shelf, which is handy for deciding what to borrow from the library or buy next. You can add star ratings, mark books as read or currently reading, and leave a short note (up to 280 characters) on a book for the family to see.

Getting started is quick: search for a title and tap to add it, paste a list, or import a Goodreads or StoryGraph export. Kaffe is free, has no ads, and runs in any browser.

Start your own reading circle: free, with just a name and a password. No email, no ads.
