Kaffe · a free, private bookshelf
A Goodreads alternative without ads
Kaffe is a free bookshelf app with no ads. Its privacy page says the app ships no ads, social graph or tracking cookies, and counts anonymous visits with GoatCounter. It's a book tool, not a feed.
You sign up with a name and a password. That's all: no email, phone number or real name. Add the books and audiobooks you've finished by searching, pasting a list, or importing your Goodreads or StoryGraph CSV export. Star ratings are optional.
Sharing is private and opt-in. You create a small circle and send its link to people you know, then choose which circles can see a read-only copy of your shelf. There is no user search and nothing is public by default. Once friends are sharing, Kaffe shows you the books they loved that you haven't read, and you can compare shelves with one friend at a time.
Kaffe doesn't try to do everything Goodreads does. There are no public reviews, giveaways or celebrity lists. What you get is a calm shelf, short notes on books (up to 280 characters), recommendations from people you trust, and free public reading lists. You can export your shelf or delete your account whenever you like.
Start your own reading circle: free, with just a name and a password. No email, no ads.
