Kaffe · a free, private bookshelf
A reading app with no email signup
Most book apps ask for an email address, a phone number or a social login before you can add a single book. Kaffe doesn't. You sign up with a name (anything you like) and a password.
That's deliberate. Kaffe is meant for keeping a private shelf and sharing it with a few people you trust, so it doesn't need to know who you are. It stores the books you save, plus the circles and shares you set up.
Once you're in, add the books and audiobooks you've finished by searching for a title, pasting a list, or importing a Goodreads or StoryGraph CSV. Your shelf stays private until you invite someone. Friends who join your reading circle see your to-read list and top picks, your full shelf goes only to circles you choose, and Kaffe shows you the books they loved that you haven't read.
One practical note: because there is no email, there is no "reset by email" link. Instead you get a one-time recovery code when you sign up. If you forget your password, enter your name and that code to choose a new one (you get a fresh code afterwards). You can change your password or make a new recovery code under Me at any time. Kaffe is free, has no ads, and runs in the browser on phones and computers. You can export your shelf or delete your data at any time.
Start your own reading circle: free, with just a name and a password. No email, no ads.
Questions
What do I need to create a Kaffe account?
A name (anything you like) and a password.
Does Kaffe ask for my phone number or real name?
No.
What if I forget my password?
Use the recovery code you got when you signed up: enter your name and the code, then pick a new password. Each code works once and is replaced by a new one. Keep it somewhere safe, like a notes app or password manager.
Is Kaffe free?
Yes, and it has no ads.
