Kaffe · a free, private bookshelf
Share what you're reading, privately
Sometimes you want a few people to know what you're reading without posting it publicly. Kaffe is made for that.
Your Kaffe shelf is private by default. You can mark books as read or currently reading, add star ratings, and leave a short note on a book. Nobody sees any of it until you invite someone.
To share, you create a circle, which is a private invitation boundary rather than a directory, and send its full link to people you know. Friends in your reading circle see your to-read list, your top picks and the notes you leave. You pick which circles can open a read-only copy of your full shelf, and unchecking a circle removes its access immediately. Kaffe has no user search and no public posts, so your shelf can't be found by strangers. Circle activity is shared activity, not a public timeline: it only records actions on things shared to that circle.
Your account needs only a name and a password. Kaffe doesn't ask for an email, phone number or real name. It stores your account, the books you save (with your ratings, statuses and notes), and the circles and shares you set up. You can export your shelf or delete your data at any time. It's free, has no ads, and works in the browser.
Start your own reading circle: free, with just a name and a password. No email, no ads.
